Movies
[edit]I would hazard movies about a capsized ocean liner, regardless of its name, aren't closely related enough to the Greek god to merit mention here. Spartan198 (talk) 15:19, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

Etymology
[edit]It seems impossible that the word dawon:water is Doric. Nilsson asserts that the name "Poseidan" was adopted by the Dorians from the older population. The word derives probably from a IE ROOT.It would be useful to include the exact sentence from the book of Janda Jestmoon(talk) 11:28, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Nurturer of plants
[edit]No mention yet of Poseidon's role as nurturer of plants and for agricultural fertility, closely connected with Demeter. Also a connection with the much older ritual of salting the earth from Mesopotamia, referred to by Homer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:9e8:186:2900:acb7:b581:3718:5c22 (talk)
original research tag re: Poseidia
[edit]I added an original research tag that suggests a link between Poseidia and Amphitrite. The fact that former may have been a consort and the latter is an attested spouse is not sufficient to make this claim without a reliable source.~TPW 20:46, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
